Ford Parish Council consists of seven elected or co-opted members who all reside within the Parish. Their services to the Parish Council are given on a voluntary basis. The Council is non political and has no religious or ethnic affiliation. The Council normally meet every other month on the third Monday in the month (unless stated) at Yapton & Ford Village Hall at 7-30pm.

Administration for the Council is dealt with by the Clerk, who is employed as a part time officer. The Clerk is the contact for all matters pertaining to the Council and residents may contact the clerk with any problems or concerns within the Parish.

The Council has statutory powers under various Local Government Acts dating from 1894. The Council sets a precept for funding each year which is collected by Arun District Council. (The current precept is £17,000)

The Councils main objective is to look after the village’s interests and try to improve the living environment for all its residents.

The Council does this by working with and taking action on your behalf with Arun District Council, West Sussex County Council and other local organisations.

The Councils responsibilities.

• The upkeep and maintenance of the Memorial Gardens.
• The Council is statutory consultee on all Planning applications.
• Working with the County Council to maintain and improve footpaths and highways.
• Working closely with the District Council on various issues, such as environmental, policing and waste disposal issues. 
• Working to run jointly leased allotments.

The Council also deals with other parish affairs which includes the giving of grants to various local organisations.
